A short animated piece introducing Eenzame Uitvaart, a Dutch initiative that creates personal poems for people who pass away without loved ones.
I developed the visual language around themes of solitude, memory and remembrance, using colour, symbolism and hand-drawn imagery to guide the emotional transition of the film.

The visual language combines hand-drawn textures with simplified forms and expressive compositions.
I wanted the imagery to feel intimate and personal, allowing small details, gestures and objects to carry meaning throughout the story.

Symbolism
The visual language uses symbolism to communicate loss and remembrance without relying on dialogue alone.
Elements such as the extinguishing fire, fading flowers, picture frames and closing door represent absence, memory and the passage of life, giving the environment an emotional role within the story.

The visual direction was divided into two distinct moods to reflect the emotional shift within the story.
The first moodboard explores isolation, stillness and absence through darker, muted imagery, while the second introduces warmth, colour and organic movement to represent remembrance, compassion and hope.
Together, they formed the visual foundation for the transition between the two parts of the film.
